Morning has broken.

Morning has broken but best to let sleeping choristers lie. That was a very uneventful night and the boys, unsurprisingly, were quiet throughout. The only vague excitement was that Mr Cobb managed to lock himself out of his hotel room at 4 in the morning. Needless to say, he was not wearing his dressing gown and it is difficult to say who was more surprised: the patrolling security guard or the confused housemaster. Oh well - it'll give them something to talk about at reception today but I must remember, for future reference, that the loo is the door on the right and that the hotel room door shuts with unforgiving speed.

Caroline has come up trumps with this hotel. The Garfield Suites are converted apartments and every room has a kitchen, a living room and at least one bedroom. The boys next door have four double beds between them! The decor is a capricious mixture of 70s and 80s furnishings - plush but odd. There is an excellent coffee machine and high speed wifi. The showers are fine, too, although the hot water tap turns on in a clockwise direction and the cold in an anti-clockwise. All very confusing and exhilarating.

The boys are very, very excited about this tour. I shall wake them in an hour or so (it's currently 7.30am) and we shall see what breakfast has to offer. Last spotted, the Gents were singing for their beer in the hotel bar (Surfing USA in close harmony) and were definitely making a profit.

As mentioned, we will have a lazy day today - there is a Macy's across the avenue and we have lots of pocket money to spend. The boys will have the 'Buying Tat is Pointless' talk today...not that I am expecting this to have much effect. I am struggling to get the photo uploader to work but will continue to take lots of photographs and will continue to try. Aha - a photo has just popped up on screen, so it does work - it just takes an inordinate length of time. Julius, Ethan and Justin are up and have knocked on my door and are desperate to go to breakfast. So much for lie-ins. Happy Birthday Lewis Cobb. Pip pip.

  3. Matthew your blog really brings it all home (especially enjoyed the carry-on bits.) Couldn't help but notice Michael seemed to have his hand in a tube of Pringles... please tell him he's been rumbled by Mum! Hope Lewis had a good birthday.

  4. Perhaps someone could break it gently to Alex that Liverpool lost today 2-1 to West Brom. Apart from that all is well in Lincoln- our tip is don't eat more than 6 waffles for breakfast!
    Love The B-Bs

  5. Love the idea of Synchronised sleeping on the journey - was it harmonious? Here's to an enormous USA breakfast - sounds like you will need it Mr Cobb! Well done all of you for getting there.
